“Wonder food with potential of climate change reversal”
The way food produce enhanced the climate change, does sustainable production development reverse the climate change?
Animal burb is rich in methane, the greenhouse gas and this is how livestock farming can damage climate. Cattle industry contribute about 40% methane emission from feed production. Although this is not the largest contributor but the new wave of technology development by researchers aims future farming to be a climate change solution instead problem.
Greenhouse gases emission accompanied by whole agriculture and deforestation. Drought, flood, high temperature, increased sea-level are the consequences of our activities. Instead of increasing our capability for food production, making our planet incapable of growing foods.
But what if we increase food production in such a way that not only decrease the impact of our conventional practice for food production but also benefiting climate to increase our capability.
The simple answer is seaweed cultivation.
Apart from nutritional rich, seaweed is 20 time more effective in carbon sequestration than land plants. Moreover it does not require soil, fresh water, fertilizer and pesticides but just a seawater. It also absorb excess fertilizer chemicals in water body and cleaning the water.
